Meet Dr. Lakshmi Chittajallu

When Dr. Lakshmi Chittajallu moved to the United States, she had already attained her dental degree and practiced general dentistry in India. Though she had the option to renew her certification at a number of American dental schools, she decided to start from scratch so she could master dentistry the way it is taught and practiced in the U.S. In 1995, she earned her DDS degree from The Ohio State University, where she graduated in the top 10% of her class and received the Carl M. Boucher Award for Prosthodontics.
Dr. Chittajallu ran a very successful family-oriented dental practice in Columbus, Ohio, where she earned the respect of her peers and the trust of her patients. She was one of the first dentists in Columbus to start using digital dental x-rays and CEREC® technology.
Dr. Chittajallu is excited to bring her years of training and experience to her beautiful new dental office in Austin, Texas. She understands that people have different needs for treatment and communication. She also knows that to provide her patients with the best possible dental care, she must first earn their trust.

Dr. Chittajallu lives in Driftwood with her husband, Shyam. When she’s not busy working, Dr. Chittajallu likes to travel and entertain her friends and family with her excellent cooking. She also volunteers her time to various social services and strongly believes in giving back to the community where she practices and lives.
Dr. Chittajallu looks forward to getting to know you and your family, too!

A Little More About Our Practice
A Clean & Safe Office

One of the ways we take great care of our patients is by exceeding all American Dental Association (ADA) and OSHA recommended standards for a clean and safe dental practice! We have a dedicated area in our office with advanced sterilization technology, where every instrument is disinfected and made ready before your visit. Each room is also sanitized between patients, and we perform weekly spore testing with a third party infection control center. Additionally, we use a closed water system (rather than everyday tap water). Your safety and your comfort are our main concerns. Come on in and let us go above and beyond the standards for you!
Education & Credentials
You can be confident in our team at Southwest Smiles as your qualified dental healthcare professionals. We are fully trained, skilled, and certified to provide you with the dental expertise you are looking for. To fulfill our responsibility to continuing education, we annually attend dental conventions, seminars, lectures, and clinical courses to keep informed about new products and equipment, and to stay on top of advancements in treatment procedures and techniques. We are constantly seeking for ways to better serve you and your family as our patients.
Information & Accommodations
Knowledge is power. We want to empower you to make educated decisions for your oral health and smile enhancements through information and thorough consultation, easy and accommodating financing, and comfortable facilities and care. We feel that in too many cases, patients are pressured into expensive and sometimes invasive procedures without being fully informed about their options. At Southwest Smiles, we will walk you through your diagnosis and treatment options, and we focus on conservative treatment plans. We truly have your best interest at heart, and we strive to develop a long-lasting relationship of trust with each and every one of our patients. Also, we want to protect your health, so we take the time to become fully informed about your medical history, current medications, and other factors that might affect your dental health and treatment possibilities.
A Kid Friendly & Kid Sensitive Practice

Whether you are 9 years old, 99 years old, or any age in between, you are welcome at our practice and we believe you deserve a healthy and attractive smile. At Southwest Smiles, we take an extra gentle and friendly approach to caring for the oral health needs of pediatric patients. We know that children’s dental habits, such as teeth brushing and finger sucking, are of primary concern because of the way they can seriously affect smile development and appearance. We also understand that these habits must be treated with sensitivity and patience, especially for children who feel uneasy and even scared about dental visits. Our calming and compassionate manner will help your child (and you) feel more at ease. Call to schedule a convenient appointment! We look forward to seeing you and your child soon.
