Is your smile in need of some extra care this holiday season? Problems like dental trauma or decay can weaken a tooth, making restorative treatment necessary. Dental crowns, which we can complete in one visit, may be the perfect solution for your smile!
What Is a Dental Crown?
Dental crowns are tooth-shaped caps made of a special dental ceramic. They’re a versatile treatment used to cover cracks, chips, and discolored or misshapen teeth; strengthen teeth after root canal therapy; finish implants to replace missing teeth; and to support teeth with large fillings. At Southwest Smiles, we use durable CEREC® crowns.
CEREC Advanced Technology
Once we determine that a tooth will benefit from a crown, we gently reshape it so a cap can fit snugly over the top. Next, we’ll take digital impressions of the tooth using our CEREC machine. Our machine then designs a crown that will be a perfect fit for a patient’s mouth. After the machine mills the crown in our office, we are able to bond it the same day! We’ll check that the crown feels natural and comfortable before sending the patient home, and again at each future checkup.
At offices that only offer traditional crowns, you’d have to wear a temporary crown while your permanent one was being made at an off-site lab. At Southwest Smiles, the whole process is completed in just one visit thanks to CEREC technology!
