hot chocolate Nothing beats a warm drink on a cold day, except, of course, a beverage that is also safe for the teeth. Opt for drinks that have all the flavor you crave without the sugar that can break down tooth enamel. Here are three warming and sugar-free recipes just in time for the winter weather.

Sugar-Free Peppermint Mocha

If you are a fan of mint and mocha, this is the drink for you. This peppermint mocha recipe is sugar-free and full of flavor! Cozy up on the couch with a good book and this warming beverage.

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 2 tbsp. erythritol (for sweetness)
  • ¼ tbsp. pure stevia (more sweetness)
  • 3 tbsp. cocoa powder
  • ¼ tsp. peppermint extract
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1 ½ tsp. granulated instant espresso

Mix all ingredients in a blender and transfer to a microwave-safe coffee mug. Heat in 30-second intervals until you reach the temperature of choice.

Spicy Chai Tea

This chai tea recipe will have you raiding your spice cabinet over and over this winter. Not only is this a tasty beverage, but it will fill your home with a sweet scent. The lack of sugar will also ensure your smile stays healthy.

  • 1 tbsp. ground cinnamon
  • 2 tsp. ground cardamom
  • 1 ½ tsp. ground ginger
  • 1 tsp. allspice
  • Just a pinch of nutmeg
  • 2 black tea bags
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 1 tbsp. pure stevia

In a medium saucepan, bring all ingredients to a rolling boil. Remove mixture from the heat and allow it to steep for 10 minutes. Using a sieve to strain the chai, pour into a mug and enjoy!

Hot Cocoa

This last recipe is a throwback to everyone’s childhood. Traditional hot cocoa is loaded with sugar, which can cause problems for your teeth. Our remixed version is just as cozy, but it can help you leave all the cavities behind. Use this recipe to start new traditions with your family.

  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 1 tbsp. cocoa powder
  • 5 drops liquid stevia
  • ¼ tsp. vanilla extract

Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan. While it’s heating, whisk ingredients until mixture is the desired temperature and the texture is smooth. Pour into a mug and sip in front of the fire or while binge-watching your favorite show.
